Trinity Resource Conservation and Development Council

New Business Working Together-Community Empowered Through Partnerships, We bring together: Community Projects, Economic Development and Conservation of Natural Resources:

The Trinity Resource Conservation and Development Council will be expanding their activities and representation to Humboldt and Del Norte Counties and the Hoopa and Yurok Tribes in the near future. This Council is a conduit for funding sources (the Farm Bill) and technical assistance for the local area. A part of the process will be to establish a non-profit network organization under the Tribe's Business Codes that can serve as the link between the Tribal representatives and the grass roots Indian and non-Indian people of the Eastern Humboldt County communities. This is an emerging opportunity that can help us to move progressively toward the goals that many of you have been discussing, such as local self-reliance, economic localization, protecting and enhancing community values and strengths, etc.

Trinity RC&D Areas of Focus:

Forest Initiatives:

- Promote policies and projects that achieve sustained yields and multiple use of timber resources.

- Promote policies and projects that create and retain jobs, and support the community.

Community Development:

- Promote activities and projects that assist with the development of infrastructure, education and job creation/retention in Eastern Humboldt County communities, as well as Del Norte and Trinity Counties.

- Target projects and activities that assist young adults to stay in the community.

Agriculture:

- Plan and implement projects that promote agriculture opportunities, soil and water conservation, value added products, agriculture markets, and job creation/retention.

Recreation & Tourism:

- Promote projects and activities that utilize the resource of Trinity, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties to provide opportunities for recreation and the creation/retention of tourism and recreation-related jobs.
